Sagrada Familia, Barcelone is such a great work of the architect Gaudi that no doubt, it attracts millions of visitors every year. What amazes me the most whenever I think about Sagrada Familia is the influence of nature and the natural elements.
A sculpture depicting a human being mostly makes use of curves, but use of straight lines is unimaginable. Is there a straight line on human beings? We are full of curves, whether it be our eye lashes or the lines on our palms. None of them are straight. It takes a great artist to think out of the box. And Gaudi was one such talented artist. He used the regular shapes like lines and polyhedrons to depict the scenes from the passion week. Today’s picture is of one such sculpture just outside the entrance. Look carefully at the hands and the legs and the use of straight lines.
